My Dear Parishioners,

I write this note to you with a heavy heart.  It is certainly discouraging for me that I have to have the foot surgery done over.  There are a number of problems with the first surgery.  The surgery will be Monday morning at Fort Wayne Orthopedic Hospital in Fort Wayne.  After a couple of days in the hospital, I will go to rehab for ten to twelve weeks.  Needless to say, I am not looking forward to being gone for such a long time.  I will not be able to put any weight on the foot for this period of time.  I don’t know at this time which facility I will be going to.  I will definitely keep you informed of my progress and whereabouts.  Please pray for me; I will be praying for you and you will be in my Mass intentions.  God bless you always.

In Christ’s peace and love,

                                                  Father Chuck

My dear Parishioners,

This weekend is Mother’s Day when we honor our earthly mothers as well as Our Blessed Mother Mary.  It is this weekend that we have the Annual Mother’s Day collection for Catholic Charities.  Would you be so kind to mail your contribution along with your weekly contribution to the parish using the envelopes in your packet (P. O. Box 376, Pierceton, 46562)?  Thank you in advance.

Public Masses will resume Memorial Day weekend, May 23-24.  We will begin the summer schedule that weekend, Saturday afternoon at 4:00 and Sunday at 7:30     and 9:00.  State directives must be followed: social distancing, face mask, etc.  In addition, the dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass is extended for all Catholics in the diocese through August 15, 2020, at which time it will be reevaluated.

Bishop Rhoades’ letter will be emailed to you.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our mothers.  May God bless you today and every day.

                                                                                                            Father Chuck

My Dear Parishioners,

May the peace of our risen Savior be with you!  I hope that everyone is doing well and staying healthy.  It’s hard to believe that the pandemic is still hanging on.  It seems as if it has been with us for ever.   We certainly have a golden opportunity to pray for all and for our many needs at this time.  There are many opportunities to follow the Sunday Mass on television and livestream- ing.  It isn’t the same as participating in the Mass in church, but we are able to hear the word of God and pray with our brothers and sisters in Christ and make a Spiritual Communion.

Thanks to those who have mailed in your contributions.  Please use your envelopes; it makes it easier for recording purposes.  The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available upon request as well as the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.  Please contact me to make arrangements.

St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church, pray for us.  God bless you!

                                                                                                                        Father Chuck

Conception on Friday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m.  He also livestreams the Sunday Mass from the

Cathedral at 10:00 a.m.

Quotes from most recent letter from the Bishop:
“Like many other dioceses throughout our country and world, I have made the difficult decision, along with the other bishops of Indiana, to suspend the celebration of public Masses in our diocese due to the escalation of the virus and to help prevent its spread. This suspension begins on Wednesday, March 18th and will remain in effect until further notice.”
“I encourage you during this time to watch Holy Mass on television or the online Masses being live-streamed from many of our parishes, including a live-streamed Mass that I will be celebrating every Sunday at 10:00 AM. I also encourage you to reflect on the Sunday readings and to take time for personal and family prayer by reciting together the holy rosary, the Divine Mercy chaplet or the Stations of the Cross.”

Hello Everyone,
As you hopefully already know, the Saint Francis Xavier Float this year is Honoring the HEROS who have fought for our Freedom!! We would GREATLY appreciate any Vets that would do us the honor of riding on the float this Saturday, along with the kids. We are meeting in the Elementary school parking lot by 2:30, it is a big farm wagon (thanks to the Landrigan's) with red white and blue fringe around it. Bring a chair for the float ride and if possible your uniform, hat, or t-shirt, etc. to show off your branch! Tracy's number is 574-551-4794 if you have any issues finding the float.

Please notify Tracy via email (gaunt2017@gmail.com) with the Vets Name, Branch of Military, and War (if served during war time) and years served of any veteran that would be kind enough to join us. We would like to have a sign for each of our Veterans!!!

Father is having surgery on his foot, and will need to stay off his foot at least 2 week ! A long with all of your Prayers, We were hoping that we might all send him a card/letter to help lift his spirits while he is away recovering. Hand made are the best, especially from the kids! You can either mail it or drop it in the collection basket. Also please not their will be no weekday Masses In Father Chuck’s absence. Please still join us for Weekend Masses Saturday 4pm, Sunday 7:30am , and Sunday 9am. Father Runyon, Father Michael, and Father Eric Burgener will be filling in Father Herman’s absence. So forget to welcome them the way our parish does so well.

5/18/19

Our parish is thinking of trying something new-a progressive dinner! A progressive dinner is simply a party where each course is eaten at a different host’s house in the same evening. Then we would meet back at the hall for dessert! Two families or parishioners could even work together to host one part of the dinner. You would not have to be a host to participate. At this point, we are checking to see how many are interested in this event. Then we will choose a date. If you would like to participate, please sign up as you leave church next week or contact a parish council member.

5/11/19

7:30 am Sunday Masses will resume Memorial Day weekend, however, they will be at the church and *not* at Jellystone. Additionally, please note Monday, June 3 at 8am will be the only weekday Mass the week of June 2nd. Father will be on a priestly retreat.
